Meta Launches $1.5B AI Data Center Project in El Paso
Meta initiated constructing AI-powered data center in El Paso, Texas, marking a milestone in its mission to propagate AI and transition towards superintelligence. This is the company’s 29th data center worldwide.
This data center features a remarkable infrastructural investment, with the initial segment valued at over USD 1.5B. Once operation commences, the site will have close to 100 full time functions and employ over 1800 workers during its major development phase.
Meta stressed on its commitment of contributing to native financial development, representing El Paso’s skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, and branding as a major technology hub.
“AI, and its inference and training requirements, are rapidly evolving,”
Meta stated.
“Our design needs to balance what we know today with what we’ll discover tomorrow.”
Beyond technology, Meta is investing in El Paso’s local community. The local small enterprises would be able to generate AI skills with the help of Community Accelerator program.
This will be Meta’s third data center in Texas, joining existing facilities that together have supported thousands of jobs and more than $10 billion in total investments across the state.
The new El Paso data center underscores Meta’s long-term vision to deliver next-generation AI capabilities — enabling products such as smart glasses, AI assistants, and real-time translation tools that connect people and businesses worldwide.
